Lao Cong Shui Xian (Gushu 150+ Old Tree Shui Xian)

Distinctive with Happy Surprises

This "single shrub" Chinese oolong, while pricey, exceeded my expectations based on a familiarity with similar teas. While aroma and taste are superb (as described below), most unique to me is the beautiful and unique pinkish-auburn color which alerts a drinker to distinctive possibilities. Possibilities becomes realities with sipping which reveals an aroma (both dry and wet) of charcoal, tobacco and wet forest flowers and, as another surprise, a striking, sweet taste of mango, tangerine and honey. Put simply, a very distinctive oolong full of happy surprises.
