Ozokerite Wax

Ozokerite wax is awesome

Ozokerite has a high melt point so requires the right equipment and some patience, but the payoff is worth it! If beeswax = shea butter, ozokerite wax = CCT/MCT — it feels very, very thin on skin. It has a much lower viscosity than microcrystalline wax, doesn’t feel as thick, has barely any tack, and imparts a glossy sheen & quick absorption very similar to dry oils. It’s completely non-comedogenic and therefore safe for use in leave-on skincare products (fun fact: ozokerite is a main ingredient in Aquaphor). It can thicken, opacity & whiten many oils starting around 0.75-1%, readily blending into the skin to a barely-there feel & glowy finish (leaning towards oily depending on the formula). I’ve found it’s best to combine with other wax(es) for use in stick formulas. Just note that it doesn’t have that thick feeling on the lips that you’ll get from other waxes & gloss bases etc., which can be a good or bad thing depending on what you’re trying to make.

MELT WITH OIL!!! Do not melt by itself. It’s great for matte lipsticks! Hard and not very shiny
