I originally purchased a G2 table stand in 2016. The failure mode of this product is the joints slowly becoming sticky regardless of the tension settings of the screws. As that happens, more force is required to move it through its range of motion. In my case, this additional force ultimately caused the plastic perforated faceplate to fracture at the center spindle and separate. But the truth is I have no complaint with that as the product provided effective service through heavy daily use for almost a decade. I could have simply purchased just the new cradle to go on the arm and I may still do that if I can get the joints in the old arm to free up and move better. But I purchased an entire new unit instead and I’m glad I did. All the joints move smoothly and the new cradle is a huge improvement over the old perforated faceplate design with the bungee cords. That being said, it has some design flaws that I think should be remedied. Notably the locking lever is too small and poorly positioned. When the cradle is rotated in the horizontal plane fully to one side the locking lever is directly behind the joint knuckle which means the unit must be repositioned first to access the locking lever. That gets old fast. It seems to me that changing the cradle design to reposition the locking lever to a location which is always readily accessible might be worth it. Perhaps just clock the position of the lever 90 degrees on the cradle body. Then it could never be inaccessible directly behind the joint knuckle.
