1770 En Fourreau Gown 18" Dolls Clothes Pattern

Not as hard as it looks!

I hesitated to buy this pattern because some of the past reviews indicated that it was difficult to follow. I'm relatively new to sewing, with intermediate-level abilities. Happily, I did not find this pattern very difficult to follow. There are a few steps for which a more detailed explanation/more close-up pictures (particularly for the front bodice) could be helpful, but even without those, I was able to figure this out on the first try and produce a great-looking muslin mockup.

This pattern is incredible. It is as beautiful as it is complex. Maybe I am going blind, but I had trouble seeing the pale photo instructions. The instructions for the back pleats, were different than the marking on the pattern piece. There were several other places that I found the instructions confusing. The lining did not fit smoothly, particularly around the left arm, until I adjusted the shoulder seam. I love how the garment came out, but it was not fun to sew. Usually, Thimble and Acorn is one of my favorite go-to patterns.
