As a beginner in Japanese, I bought this item to improve my vocabulary by learning to read. It is difficult to read without knowing many words so, starting with very junior books was my plan. At first, I could make very little sense of the readers but, in combination with other learning tactics, I am finding them a great beginning reading experience. It is difficult to learn Japanese AND to learn to read Japanese at the same time on your own. I am finding these readers very good. The reading is easy but the understanding is not always easy; I go away and learn a bit more from other books and come back to try again and then move through a reader or two until I don’t understand. Then back to other instruction books. The information in the books is interesting and it is not like reading baby books and I can see my improved reading and understanding.
