Taconic Bay Rum Shaving Soap Tin

A real luxury

I just used the Taconic Bay Rum Shaving Soap for the first time. I wet my brush with hot water the worked the soap with it for about 10 seconds. It goes on the face thin, but after working it with the brush it lathers up to a tick creamy consistency and stays that way. I wanted to try the 2 razors at the same time, one of my left side of my face and one on my right. I bought 3 razors from Geo, a Henson AL13M, a Parker 74R and a Rockwell R1. I tried the Henson the day I got it and all the good things I hear about it are true. It is a VERY good product and the save was great, very close and super smooth. After 2 days I wanted to try the other 2. The soap was wonderful because the lather just seems to last and last and the sent was pure luxury. On my right side I used the Parker. It was good and far better then my old (1948) Gillette but not as good as the Henson. I could get a close a shave with it, but it took 3 passes to give me what the Henson did in 2. But I love the feel of the Parker and the weight just feels great. I would recommend it, but not as highly as the Henson. The real surprise (a shock actually) was the inexpensive Rockwell R1. This was a $15 razor on sale from Shave Nation. I was not expecting a great result for $15. That was wrong. That razor gave me as good a shave as I have ever had with any safety razor, and I have used them since about 1971. I am extremity impressed. For $15 I can't say if I'd believe all of them would be THIS good, but maybe they are. I just know it was a mild shave but very smooth and the closeness was well about the level I expected! I'd love to read reviews from others because I am just overwhelmed at how good it was and for $15 It's got to be the best quality for value I have ever seen any a razor. I am still in a bit of disbelief, and I wonder if I just got lucky. All 3 new razor were loaded with Feather blades so I had the same blades in each and felt I was only testing the razors themselves. But coming back to the Taconic Bay Rum Soap: No complaints at all. Wonderful sent and very long lasting lather with a good degree of slickness. Worth the money in my book.
