Ceramic Shaving Bowl

I purchased the ceramic shaving bowl in raven black for the purpose of creating lather with Proraso shaving soap. I have watched geofatboy's youtube video numerous times on how to create lather with Porarso shaving soap. No matter how hard I try, I cannot create a full bowl of lather as seen in the video. I am using a synthetic shaving brus, but this should make no difference. The water in Texas is hard water and maybe this is the reason.

Perfect Size Shaving Bowl

I purchased the Blazing Yellow colored shaving bowl on sale and received one that was not as "blazing" as the one pictured. Instead, I received a more subdued or matte finished bowl, which I actually like better. So, a major positive for me on both the sale price and finish. I only mention this because sometimes things aren't exactly as pictured, especially when dealing with custom items like ceramics and glaze finishes. Anyway, I really like the wider mouth of this bowl because it pairs perfectly with my Simpson's T3 chubby synthetic brush. There is nothing more annoying or distracting than working up a good lather and hearing the brush handle clanging into the sides of the bowl when all you want is to do is enjoy the peaceful solitude of a great morning shave. The "lather spot" feature at the bottom makes this my "go-to" shaving bowl whenever I use any type of cream in a tube. And because the ceramic retains heat, I like to fill it with hot water while I take a shower, so it is nice and warm when mixing up the lather. Great product, great price!
