Just what my 25 yr old straight razor needed. I used the 8000 grit followed by a 12000 and it's as sharp as the day I bought it.

The right tool for the right job

The title of my review has been a life-long mantra for me; any job goes easier when you have the right tools. This stone is a basic part of an overall kit to maintain the best edge on my straight razor, augmented with polishing stones of higher grit and a lapping stone to keep them all aligned. Sharpening a piece of steel by rubbing it against a stone has an elemental satisfaction to it, and this product provides an important part of that process.
