Uneven shape, stained ears black

I've been stretching my ears for about 15 years and have never encountered a pair of wood plugs that were so unevenly shaped. I understand that organic materials vary, so that's not a huge deal - however, they also stained my ears black, and deposit a black substance on anything they touch. Customer support couldn't explain what this substance was - some kind of dye or finish? The staining has persisted even after washing the plugs multiple times with soap. Really weird, so I honestly don't feel comfortable wearing them. They were cheap, though, so no great loss.
