Alpaca Wool Beanie: 160 Ultralight

Crazy long tag hard to remove

I haven't worn the beanie enough in enough weather to really say if I notice a difference in the fabric vs merino. The fit is good, the color is nice, and it weighs 34 grams on my scale. The reason I am taking two stars off is they have what seems to be a great product and then they ruin it with a gigantic tag sewn into the inside. Maybe laws and customs require a tag, but they really should work to find a way to make it removable. I used a thread puller and a magnifying glass and found it very hard to cleanly remove the tag. Once I got the tag out, I spent another 20 minutes with tweezers trying to get the last stuck pieces of thread. Then, this left a one inch hole in the seam, so I had to stitch it back up. I looked into getting alpaca thread but everything I found cost as much as the beanie for just a spool of thread so I just used polyester. Once I was about an hour into this project I really started to get upset at the manufacturers for stitching a Walgreens receipt into the inside of the beanie. I'm not a great seamstress so hopefully my stitch holds.

I needed a head covering with no rubber contents. I use it at night and it keeps my head warm , but not overly warm.

160 light beanie

Got to use it a couple of times on rides . Fit is a tad small , doesn't completely cover my ears . Weight and comfort/temp level was great . A little more warmth than my lightest , less than my heavier ones . Which is what I was looking for . Seems very well made . Seasons will tell
