The Foundation Pant

As expected

My double knees are 9 years old and still going strong. This purchase of the foundation pant is for use at my night job. I am an ice technician at the local hockey rink. I need a rip resistant, water resistant, quick drying pant that will look NEW for as long as possible. Yes. They’re stiff out of the package. I know from experience that bomb proof means stiffer material. I wear thermals under them. The material doesn’t bother my skin. This NYCO material is why I bought 1620 again. Will consider the insulated double knee for the upcoming winter

Hard to size

I love these pants. Great tough fabric and workmanship. I love the gusseted crotch. My problem has been with getting the right fit. This is my first pair of 1620 and I got them after a backpacking trip where a friend wore his 1620s on the trip and shared how great they are. He’d had his for 8 years and they looked brand new. I’ve been wearing dickies traditional work pants since I was a kid but decided to get some 1620s because of my friend’s experience. My body type is a little unusual due to my long torso and kinda short legs. I originally ordered regular fit 34x29. They seemed way too big. I returned them an tried the slim fit and regular fit in 32x29. Both of those were too small in the waist. Finally I found the right fit, sort of, in the 34x29 slim fit. They seem to fit really well but when I work in them they ride down even with a belt. I think they may take time to break in but I’ve washed them twice now and worn them every day for almost two weeks. I wear them with suspenders and they stay up better but they still do ride down if I have to do a lot of bending. Work wise, I’ve worn them in my job at a major food retailer, thus all the bending to stock low shelves and pick boxes off the floor etc. I’ve also worn them doing a renovation on a commercial building which we are doing on weekends. This has involved concrete demolition and removal of hardware and ducting from a second story mechanical platform. They fabric is fantastic and the pants still look brand new.
