1C Flashlight Kit by Maratac®

Very nice emergency lighting.

I love the fact that this is a AAA-insert compatible kit. Stocking these in my emergency cupboard with 4x Energizer Ultimate Lithium AAAs, this means that I can just leave them in there for year and years, and yet know that they'll come out ready-to-use, without the worries of an alkaline battery "leaking." That I can then pop-in a cheap C-cell for mindlessly extended run-time makes it a valuable part of my family's weather-emergency kit. I've been a flashlight collector for 30+ years, and there's now not many C-cell lights out there, aside from camping lanterns. In this form-factor, rechargeables have rightly taken over, but I still find that there is a place for a C-cell light like this, with the context of emergency-preparedness being the perfect example. With how easily available C-cells are, it's a really excellent choice for this type of light. The CREE XP-L is old-tech, but it's proven, and the V5 at this color temperature again makes for a great overall user. The only reason why I didn't give this product 5-stars is the full retail price: at an MSRP of $55 and an offer price of $40, in spite of its solid construct and machining, that's still a hard pill to swallow.

1C Cell Flashlight

Solid piece of equipment! Beautifully machined & tough. Instruction sheet on how to use light would have been welcomed. To switch between LOW/HIGH, user must twist on/off/on again to switch brightness modes. Will leave in my glovebox.

What's not to like?

I admit, I am fascinated by flashlights... I already have too many, but was intrigued by this offering so I ordered one. This light appears to be extremely well made, good light output, and is a good addition to my collection. Very pleased with it. Looking forward to doing more business with CountyComm!!!
