READ THIS BEFORE YOU PURCHASE FROM FIDDLERSHOP
Can a Horror Story Have an Ecstatic Ending? This is a review of my Fiddlershop customer experience, not the Mezzo-Forte violin. That comes at the end of this review. I experienced what is arguably a consumer’s worst nightmare. I spent a few thousand dollars on a piece of gear from Fiddlershop which turned out to be structurally flawed (Fiddlershop wouldn’t have known this). And being outside the “return window,” I contacted the manufacturer. The manufacturer absolutely threw Fiddlershop under the bus and said it was old stock; they perform quality checks before their products leave their manufacturing facility, blah, blah, blah. In other words, they completely rejected any responsibility for a defect that obviously could ONLY be traced back to the manufacturer, and basically, it’s MY problem. They did not stand behind their product, sent me away, and suggested I contact Fiddlershop. So now I’m in the worst possible position, caught in a dispute between the manufacturer and their retailer. I’m frustrated and angry, and my wallet is significantly lighter. So I took their advice and called Roger at Fiddlershop. Their Customer Service Department was PERFECTION. Roger called me and told me they wanted to do whatever was necessary to make me not just satisfied but happy. With customer service like this, why would you give any other shop your business? I returned the product, and a replacement was promptly shipped to my home address. I COULD NOT BE HAPPIER. This organization should be a case study for business schools. Without question, they stand behind everything they sell. I might say that they don’t just sell stringed instruments and accessories. They sell comfort, confidence, and purchase satisfaction. This genuinely superior company “gets it” and will get all my business! Oh, the Mezzo_Forte violin? I bounce between a mountain home at 6,500' that gets 50' of snow annually and a house 50 yards from the Caribbean Sea. It's like a test track for the durability of carbon fiber instruments. I never have to worry about bringing my Mezzo-Forte on the plane, and I've actually played it on the beach! I put Obligato strings on it, and it has a deep, resonant sound. Pretty happy with it!
