Very cool, but less sturdy than expected

I saw the Mt Rainier topography carving in The Seattle Times and was SO EXCITED to finally find a gift my dad would like. He's planning to summit this summer with my brother. I balked a little at the price, especially one shipping and tax were factored, but went ahead. Delivery was quick and it was nicely packaged but much smaller and thinner than I had expected. It was only about a 1/4-1/2 inch thick which made it seem cheaper looking. It was still very well received, but I think making it a tiny bit thicker would do wonders for sense of quality.
