The bearings serve no useful purpose as they do not come in contact with the pieces being routed. You can either tape a piece of wood to both pieces to get to the needed thickness or fine tune the router table fence or some combination of both. I was pleased with the joint that resulted and I have a nice pile of kinding wood also.
