Overall, the book seems to be rather comprehensive at the Beginner level, with 3 CD's for the recorded dialogues. The use of Romaji and translations make it easier to understand the materials and follow the lessons. There is a good balance between grammar and conversation in the mini-lessons. All these features make the book suitable for self-study. The main drawback is that it's not easy to follow the instructions to download the Voice Data. I had to get help from someone who has studied Japanese for a few years. Nevertheless, this book is a valuable item for learners of Japanese at the Beginner level.
