Quality design, and a rewarding experience.
Midway through 2024, my wife and I started talking about building a playhouse for our kids. We wanted something sturdy and long-lasting—big enough for us to play alongside them and create lasting memories. I’m really glad I found Paul’s Playhouses because the Twin Peaks design was exactly what we were looking for. So far, I’ve only built half of the structure, as shown in the photos, but I designed it in a way that allows for easy expansion in the future. By adding two more beams for the bridge and cutting out the opening, I can complete the second tower whenever we're ready. I also made a few modifications to the original plans to better suit our needs. I raised the wall height of each floor by one foot to prevent adults from bumping their heads, widened the overall structure by two feet for extra interior space, and built a chicken-ladder-style staircase with a midway platform and a half-wall at the top to make climbing safer for younger kids. Since we live in a hurricane-prone area, I opted for a 4-inch concrete slab reinforced with #5 rebar as the base, securing the frame with expansion anchors to add weight and stability to the structure. The entire build took me about six months, working on it every other weekend. It was a really fun and rewarding experience, but the best part was when my daughter looked at me and said, "Daddy, you're the greatest," as I was cutting the last few pieces of trim. That moment made all the effort worth it. Thanks for the fantastic plans, Paul! -Townsend
