It was my adult daughter's birthday and we had purchased all of her "big" gifts. But she is the director of a figure skating program in the Chicago area and she spends 300 days a year in a freezing cold ice rink. Muffins and Hot Chocolate were a nice way for us to say "We know how hard you work and how cold it is for you nearly every day. Here's a little something to warm you up and satisfy your hunger." We also operate a children's charity that feeds and provides medical care for kids.
