Love the Wittner Hypoallergenic Center Mount Viola Chinrest

I was needing a viola center mount chinrest. I tended to shy away from the plastic ones because so many people said they were not good or did something to the sound. I decided, that for the price, well worth the chance. I am very happy I did. For me, this chinrest is very comfortable to my skin. It feels soft, unlike the wood chinrests. The grip is secure under my chin, but the roundness, for lack of a better term, of the edge under the chin or jaw area does not dig into me. I like the way it attaches. The key is provided. As far as looks. It does not look like a piece of cheap shiny plastic. It looks like plastic, sure, because it is. But it looks nice, does not look cheap. I would definitely recommend this for other violists, at least to try. It may not work for everyone, and that is not a negative to the chinrest. Different chin/jaw, neck and shoulder combinations require different setups. I think everyone who tries it, would agree that it feels secure under the jaw or chin area, and feels soft to the skin. The customer service at Fiddlershop, as always, was top notch. The order was shipped promptly and I received it promptly, in perfect condition.

I like how this chinrest feels against my chin. It feels very soft. It looks nice on my 15 1/2 Fiddlerman Concert Viola. For me it is actually comfortable with the shoulder rest that came with my viola. I actually like the way it attaches with the separate legs. It is much easier than the regular or more common way of attaching a chinrest. I was thinking that a plastic one would not be as good, as comfortable or look as nice. I find this chinrest hits the mark in all categories. My experience with Fiddlershop, as always, was top notch!
