Easily slices potatoes!

I bought the Swissmar Mandoline Slicer because I now need to slice 3# of potatoes and 3# of sweet potatoes weekly to make dog food for my dog with IBD. I previously bought a french fry potato cutter and it broke on the first day of use. Swissmar had great reviews and so far it stands up to those reviews. I do microwave the sweet potatoes for 2.5 minutes in order for them to be soft enough to slice, but all else is good. Warning - the blades are extremely sharp and I nearly cut myself while removing the cellophane wrapping from the slicer. (This could be packaged more safely, perhaps with a cardboard guard). My mandoline is white and it developed an orange stain from my first use, which did not come off in the dishwasher. Other than those two issues, I love it.

Function is excellent. It cuts perfect matchsticks in two sizes, as well as slices. The design is quite awkward, though. I still have not figured out how to keep it in my kitchen.
