High quality construction but limited appeal for birds

This is a well made and nice large feeder but for some reason the cardinals in our yard that swarmed our previous dilapidated feeder refuse to feed from this one. Smaller birds seem to love it and the end feeders allow appealing to the nut feeders as well.

Fixing it up

Not used yet. Painting it with Lifetime wood preserver and attaching flashing pieces to the roof. Over time the squirrls ,chipmunks and raccoons gnaw away at it. Want this one to last longer, this is my third feeder like this. I mean I've bought this same one three times over the years. I choose it because it's cedar and big. I attach it to a metal powder coated sleeve over my cedar post like in this picture.
