Nagami Kumquat Tree

Tree arrived well packaged and in excellent condition. I’m glad I decided on the larger size as it looks real healthy. I potted it and after two weeks it seems to like its new home.

Healthy, good looking tree that fits my spot

I’ve waited six months to give a review. We love our kumquat tree. The tree arrived nicely boxed with blooms. Some of those blooms seemed to die in the first week. I don’t know if it was my care or just natural from being shipped from where it had been thriving. Then It went through a period where leaves were falling off from the bottom of a branch to the top. I lost at least one leaf every day for probably a six to eight week period. I googled some answers before sending a message to the help desk. In the end, I took the advice of Google and sprinkled some Epsom salt on the soil before watering. That seemed to work. It stopped shedding leaves. I think my tree had a magnesium deficiency. Since then, my tree has been super easy to maintain with watering about ever five to seven days. It is a great fit and size for the 2x2 square between the pantry and next to a full length west window. I can’t say I’ve seen a lot of growth, but then I’m not wanting a lot of growth because this is a great size for us. And the fruit! It came with a decent amount of green kumquats (maybe 30) that turned orange starting in December. Our kids had lots of fun picking them off here and there to pop in their mouths. I might be biased, but I think they were the best kumquats I’ve tasted. I love the shape of the leaves and overall look of this tree. I think the five foot tree was fight for us. I might have gone with a four foot tree, though. I’ll move it outside this summer and hope that it thrives in the sunshine. I am going to clean he leave off soon. I’ve noticed some white cotton-like globs in places and some shiny/sticky spots on leaves that may be honeydew. I’ll have to follow up with this review if things go poorly with that. Overall, this has been a great purchase and really enhances our kitchen.
