These lights are not suitable for the UK market as supplied. They are fitted with a US plug (120V only), meaning UK buyers need a step-down transformer — not just a simple adapter. This was not clearly stated on the website at the time of purchase. Because of the need for a transformer and additional cables, they are not practical to hang over a staircase as shown in the product images, as this could create extra visible wiring and potential trip hazards. They would be better suited for use near a socket where a transformer can be safely placed. I was really looking forward to using them, but unfortunately they remain unused in the box.
