Pierced Tin Ship's Lantern

A Fine Addition to the Kit of any Seafarer.

The ship's lantern is a real beauty. One alone will give you just enough focus light for reading charts and plotting the next day's voyage. I may be purchasing several more to illuminate the captain's quarters for my dinner parties with the officers. A work to the wise, the lantern is best used with the glass cover off. With the cover on, the heat builds up and melts the candle's edge, dripping the wax and shortening it's life. Not good when port is still three weeks away. Removing the cover lets in a draft, and cools the candle down. Put the cover on only when going above decks to keep out the wind, or when visiting the powder magazine.
