Blackpanel simplicity: Ampknob Duet

I really have enjoyed all the products I've bought from Bogren Digital. I think it's really fast to get ideas recorded or even for a finished song, because there is no time being wasted into different configuration. It's almost go to aside from my old Yamaha THR amp which I use for recording demos. I'm slightly oldschool punk rocker, so I prefer Fender for the sake of Steve Jones!

More time playing less time tweaking!

One of the most natural sounding clean tones I have heard. I have all the major amp plugs and most are pretty good, however I found myself constantly tweaking and resaving patches. With amp-plug you have very few options but several great sounds. I use this Duet for clean, Fat man for break-up and BDM 75 for gain. Probably get a high gain later. I think you could easily get by with just Fatman of Duet. Love Ampknob!

Actually feels like a real amp

Among about 500 plug-ins I own, I have a lot of amp sims. The trouble is, they all sound ‘like’ a real amp, but they don’t react like one… until now. The Bogren Ampknob Duet is dimensional, responsive and very satisfying to play, even through a small near-field monitor set-up. As a stand-alone, it’s so damn good, I’ll write Logic Pro Controller Assignments for the front panel, and run it into a power amp. The lack of physical controls are literally all that separates the Duet from ‘a real amp’, so I’ll assign them to a physical controller, and write some presets for the effects. At that point, what you have is a fully automated amp you can use on stage, even syncing your amp settings to a backing track, so you get the right sounds in each section of the song.
