Wine Thief

Unfit for stated purpose

Unlike other wine thieves where you put your thumb over the end to retain the fluid and then remove to discharge it, this component has a plunger valve at the bottom so it only discharges when it is pressed against the bottom of a vessel or whatever. The thief is huge - 500mm long and 28mm diameter - therefore too thick to fit into a standard hydrometer sample tube. I'm sure this has it's uses for taking large samples (310ml) from deep fermentation buckets or carboys but for it's stated purpose of taking a sample for a hydrometer reading....it's useless.
