Beautiful Effect if a Little Tricky
Who doesn’t love glitter? I purchased a sheet for the first time to use for snow in an embroidery project, and this was my first time using it and I have some (largely positive) thoughts:
Overall I think it’s a great product and worth it in the end, but be prepared to use a little muscle and a sharp, large eye needle.
How was it to work with? I won’t lie, it’s a bit tough. Probably the biggest complaint I had. Because of the glitter it’s fairly stiff and you definitely want a *sharp, large eye* needle (thanks Renae for the tip when I finally got over being stubborn and asked for help). This may be something obvious to others but as a newbie I just thought as long as I could thread the needle and it was sharp, I’d be fine. I probably didn’t help matters by using 6 strands, and going through multiple layers of felt and Sulky Fabri Solvy but semantics.
Was it worth it? I’m at the midpoint now and yes, I think so. I’m getting the effect I wanted (glittery snow).
Would I use it again? Yes! Absolutely. It does pack a LOT of sparkle, so if it’s something you want to sparkle in a more subtle way, this wouldn’t be the way to go. But if you need the sparkle and you want it to be a lot, this is definitely it.
