Scents from Frédéric Malle are like a man’s Tiffany wedding band: exquisitely crafted, wildly expensive, impeccably tasteful—and utterly forgettable. They’re designed for discretion, not distinction. Beautiful, yes. Memorable? Rarely. The Night, however, is the exception—and Malle’s true masterpiece. It’s the best oud I’ve ever encountered, likely because it’s the real deal, which also explains the astronomical price. Unlike Portrait of a Lady, which never quite earns its reputation, Night fully delivers: ferociously animalic in all the right ways. It’s barnyard and wood, tamed and elevated by subtle layers of rose and sandalwood. I have a couple of decants, and they’ll have to last me a lifetime—because if I’m dropping that kind of cash, it’s going to be on Silence the Sea, but I don't regret buying the decants and will save them for dinner at Gallatoires.

one of the best oud/rose perfume that exist

I love it and renew my decant time to time. it is pricey, but i like to go back to it. The Night is the best in 3-6 hours, it is very smooth and mesmerizing and not offensive.
