My intention was to use this unit to run a line out to the edge of the car body to avoid opening the hood. My plan was to use the LED light to give me a quick view of my battery status without opening the hood. Unfortunately, the wire was only about 18 inches long. I solved it by adding additional length. If you intend to open the hood, it is completely sufficient. It is a nice accessory.
