Protects and locks up your earplug case so no worries of earplug case opening by accident. That doesn't seem to be a problem, so having the bumper is more of an extra layer of protection to secure your investment.

I use it to hold my Hears earplugs and carry it in my bag. I have not used the Hearplugs yet.
