Steak Box (NY Strip Edition)

Very disappointing first experience with Meatzy. Several steaks arrived poorly trimmed with an excessive amount of fat — one NY strip looked like it was nearly 50% fat. After thawing, the meat also had a strange/off smell. I did a side-by-side comparison for my wife and me: a Meatzy NY strip vs. a frozen USDA Choice strip from my local grocery store, cooked the same way. The grocery-store steak was noticeably better in appearance, smell, and taste. Neither of us could finish the Meatzy steak, and I ended up throwing out the rest of the order. I wouldn’t have felt comfortable feeding it to a dog. I contacted Meatzy, canceled my subscription, and requested a replacement box in case this was simply a bad batch. Still waiting on a resolution. I’m willing to give them another chance, and if they make it right, I’ll gladly update this review. But based on my first box, the quality was extremely disappointing.

I tried to cancel this order the very next morning and the COO said I had to keep the order, even after I let her know that I found out it was lab grown meat. She refused to cancel my order even though it hadn’t been shipped. I have disputed it with my credit card. The customer service was horrible and the steak has a pale pink color after cooking it with no blood. It is a very tough meat. I coooked one steak to see what lab grown meat looks like. It does Not look like normal steak!!!

Order came quickly and still frozen despite the Forida heat. My Mom and Dad commented on how great they looked.
