I got this specifically for a Tascam DR-40X after trying several other unsatisfactory products from other vendors. Size was also going to be an issue, and while it is easy to mount, the interior size is a little cramped and it is necessary to manipulate the mikes into a true A/B config after you put it on by literally pushing them outwards through the fur. But it can be done, and while not capable of blocking wind noise 100% it did a much better job that the competition while retaining higher sound frequencies.

I’ve been searching for the best wind protection for my Sony PCM-D100. Over the past few months I’ve tried just about every model from the leading manufacturers, along with a few lesser-known options. After running a series of side-by-side tests, the Bubblebee Windkiller SE consistently came out on top.
The other windshields were either less effective or allowed a small amount of low-frequency wind rumble to reach the microphones, resulting in more clean-up work during post-production. In contrast, the Bubblebee offered the best overall protection while maintaining excellent sound quality.
It’s beautifully made, with a high-quality outer fur and a well-designed inner lining. It’s also very easy to fit and remove from the D100, which is a real advantage when you’re out in the field.
I also use the Bubblebee Windkiller SE on my Sony PCM-M10, and it performs just as impressively.
