The Oval Basket Course and Kit

I had a lot of fun with this kit. I’m pretty crafty and can follow instructions. I remade my base but I’m not sure it made a lot of difference to the overall basket. The shape came out great. The hardest part I had was with soaking the willow. Even with max hours and resting overnight, some of my thicker reeds weren’t very bendy. I didn’t have a container big enough to soak my basket before the final steps so I did end up with some split reeds on my top border. The biggest hurdle was the difference in reed length with the US kit vs what was happening in the instructions. I watched all the videos before I started so I knew how to handle weaving in new reeds before the video got to that part. All said, I have a beautiful basket that I can brag I made myself and I’m going to try and make something small with the remaining willow.

This was my first basket. It is far from perfect but I love it! The instructions were clear and easy to follow. I didn’t let my thick rods mellow enough after soaking and they split and snapped. I reached out to the company and they graciously sent me more. Top notch customer service. I can’t wait to make more baskets!

This was an excellent challenge. I did the large market basket. Still have the handles to put on. It is beautiful! I will be gifting it to my Daughter and son-in-law for their 9th wedding anniversary( the willow anniversary). Took all day but so worth it. This is my second basket from MyTwoHands.
