The Oval Basket Course and Kit

What an experience! The videos and written instruction are thorough with one caveat; lack of mention of the complicating factor at the very end for the border. I made the large market basket and didn't realize the uprights had dried out enough to almost break every rod! It was frustrating at the end to not be aware of this potential pitfall, with all the work I had already done. I would've liked a timely tip. Nevertheless, it turned out fine enough for me, and I did some pretty decent weaving for my first go. Not to mention the videos are well shot and very easy to follow. I'm so glad I bought this!

The written vs video instructions on soaking the reeds was contradictory and was subsequently confusing. The subsequent instructions were fairly easy to follow and I love the video that accompanied them, but there were times when I could not make sense of what was going on and so I just followed my own instinct. Finishing the top edge was difficult since things had started to dry out and it is hard to re-soak in the middle of construction😅 overall it was a good experience but a pretty intense day. I would suggest taking two days for this project, especially if it’s your first basket.

The kit was well thought out, packaged beautifully and had lots of videos and instructions to help you along. But, this particular basket in no way beginner friendly. I would purchase another kit in the future, but would start out with a much simpler basket.
