Board is a wrinkled mess

I purchased this set at the direction of my chess instructor. He carefully specified the silicone board. It’s a wrinkled mess. I thought it would flatten, but nothing works - books, hair dryer, time. Wrinkled mess. He offered to give me one of his. That’s not right.
