These hairpins are much larger than they appear in the videos for the product; they are 4.25 inches long—this means that the ends stick out of my hair (above the crown of my head) when inserting them upwards, as I style a half up-do. I'm not able to do the styles advertised at all. They just slide out of my hair (I have straight, thick hair); no matter what angle or how I insert them, they don't grip the hair well enough to stay in place, since there is now tension (vs. a claw clip, where the spring pulls the two sides together to grip your hair). Finally, they are not curved at all, as they look in the product photo (which makes them worse at gripping the head). They feel like a very flimsy plastic that will break sooner than later. Don't waste your money.
