An excellent book by Pen & Sword, first published back in 2018, covering the demise of Southern steam some nearly 60 years ago! I was there at the time - doesn't time fly? The photos are excellent, as are the appendices at the back. Memories of David Shepherd at work in Nine Elms depot, as well as a Merchant Navy arriving at Waterloo with "The Last One" chalked on the smokebox door - aahhh! - I'm sure it was number 30, but memory plays tricks! A book well worthy of study.

Great Memories revived

Amazingly detailed account to complement what I already had recorded about this period. Correspondence with the author has filled in many gaps in my knowledge. Perfect for anyone who was there then.
