3.5 KG PETG: Use for Automotive Prototypes
I have been using these large 3.5 KG PETG rolls (color doesn't matter to me) for printing automotive aftermarket plug prototypes for a couple years. Usually 5mm thick parts, with 4 lines shell thickness. The PETG works well for large prints, so I don't have to change the filament as often.
I have test fitted the parts on a car and have even driven with them on the car- but it is best to not leave them on in the sun- as direct sun exposure on hot days will cause the petg to deform / warp.
But the parts work well for making tooling FRP molds using polyester resin / gelcoat.
I will continue to use this material. I like that it can flex and doesn't crack as easy as PLA or ABS.
Sanding it can be done with 60 or 80 grit and body filler can be added before priming and working up to 320 / 400 grit to prepare for mold making.

Good to go
