Dear Foster, what an amazing story! I'm a slow reader, often having to re-read sentences or even paragraphs, but your book was just so readable and as others have said, hard to put down!
I normally dislike violence in any form and am not good with blood so please don't be tempted to make this a movie as I won't be watching!
I made immediate connections in three ways:
1. Set in 1888, my granny's birth year.
2. Jack's palomino mare had a white blaze freckled with palomino which reminded me of the racehorse my father purchased and trained on behalf of the town Tunbridge Wells, who, although chestnut, had the exact same freckled blaze.
3. For one of the characters to be named Ellis, is extraordinary as the only Ellis I know is my husband!
Thank you and I can't wait for the continuation of this exciting story!

I haven’t started reading this book yet (time poor!) but hope to soon. It looks like a good read that is an original style which makes it even more appealing to me. Both books arrived quickly and very well packaged. The tissue paper with the wax seal is a particulary nice touch. I wont be lending these books, rather I will be encouraging others to buy their own copies of Foster Burton’s books!

What a great first book! It was like watching a movie—I could picture every scene as I was reading. Love, love, love it! ❤️
I really appreciated that there were no cliffhangers at the end. The story wrapped up in a way that left me feeling satisfied, while still making me want to know what comes next.
Jack’s character was so annoying in the beginning 😂, but he definitely grew on me as the story went on. I loved seeing how his character developed and how the different characters came together throughout the book.
The pacing kept me hooked, and there were plenty of twists and moments that kept me wanting to read “just one more chapter.” For a debut novel, I was genuinely impressed. Foster Burton has created a story that is easy to get lost in, and I’m definitely looking forward to reading The Reckoning.
A fantastic read and a great start! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
