Outstanding Outcome for Porsche 930 Turn Indicators LED Upgrade
I could not be happier with the performance of this replacement relay, which, as described, not only remedies the hyper-flashing issue associated with upgrading turn indicator bulbs to LEDs, but delivers the classic audible clicking and flash rate of the original relay. Classic 80s Porsche 911 owners (of right-hand drive 930s anyway) should be aware however, that removing the original relay is far from a "plug and play" scenario. Reaching the relay via the luggage compartment (the recommended approach) is impossible and you can barely see it using a torch. But by removing the clock from the instrument panel, then the large relay that blocks the way, at least you can get your wrist in far enough to get some purchase on it (if you have thin wrists and long fingers anyway). Then the fun begins - the relay won't budge! I worked the problem over a number of days and by finally prying at the base of the relay from the luggage compartment (using the world's longest screwdriver) to create a gap, spraying WD40 into said gap, then carefully levering with the screwdriver from that side, then the clock side, by alternating this routine for nearly an hour I finally managed to pry it out enough to remove it with my fingers! A contributing factor is the relay being mounted on a rubber base that moves around, so you have to exercise incredible patience as leverage is a real issue. Compared to all this drama, the new relay went in relatively easily. In spite of all this, it was worth it (of course you can always hand it over to an auto electrician). Good Luck Michael Melbourne.
