Beautifull piece of history!
For a small book, this is a great addition to anyone’s collection. Amazing photo’s that gives you an inside of Horibun 1 his work. In a world were appointments are made through email or instagram, even with Horishi, it is amazing to see how underground it was to get horimono and even how to get in contact with a Horishi as Martha Cooper briefly explains in this book.
Every time I open this book I find more details in the pictures and it’s simply amazing to look at the full body horimono. I definitely recommend this book for anyone that’s interested in a piece of history and horimono!

Beautiful book
Overall I'm quite pleased with the book. The edition is beautiful, the printing quality is very good and the pictures are sharp and vivid. However, I did find the written content a bit lacking. The text feels somewhat underdeveloped, and I would have appreciated more in-depth commentary or historical context. Even a short article by experts in Japanese tattoo culture would have added a lot of value and depth to the overall experience. That said, the book is still a great visual piece, especially for anyone interested in the art of tattooing or Japanese aesthetics!
