Designed with Purpose
I recently bought this jacket from Amity again, and it has quickly become one of my favorite pieces of outerwear. The EtaProof fabric offers a remarkable balance of weather protection, breathability, and comfort. In many everyday situations, I find it more enjoyable to wear than both traditional cotton gabardine and Gore-Tex.
What impresses me most is that the jacket feels thoughtfully designed. Every detail appears to serve a purpose, creating a product that is not only functional but also genuinely pleasant to live with.
The design successfully draws on the heritage of traditional hunting and shooting apparel while remaining highly relevant to modern life. Whether I am hiking in the countryside or taking a casual walk through the city, it feels equally at home. It delivers practicality without sacrificing elegance, a balance that is surprisingly difficult to achieve.
Another aspect I appreciate is the brand’s restraint. Rather than offering an overwhelming number of products, Amity maintains a focused and carefully curated collection. This gives the brand a distinctive boutique character and a strong sense of identity. In a world increasingly dominated by fast fashion and endless choice, that focus feels both refreshing and authentic.
Amity demonstrates that exceptional outdoor clothing does not have to look overly technical, and that true functionality is often best expressed through simplicity, craftsmanship, and thoughtful design.

My 2nd Paul! (color Sand)
After having a great experience with the Stretchloden version, I was looking for a lighter version for spring and summer. The Paul EtaProof fits the bill perfectly. Wilhelm advised getting a size up since the EtaProof version is cut a bit slimmer. Good advice; the XL fits just right through the shoulders and waist. I had the sleeves shortened by 2cm and now they too are perfect. (I'm 187cm, 84kg)
I've had the jacket for a few weeks now and the fabric performs just as advertised. It is breathable, and certainly windproof. The inherent waterproof nature of the material is due to the long-staple cotton used, and the denseness of the weave. I walked home from the train in a steady rain (~5 minutes) and while the exterior was wet, I was dry inside. A waxed cotton Filson kept my head dry.
Looking forward to using both jackets for many years!
