Small White Lotus Flowers & others

Small and Large Lotus Flowers

I was very happy with the flowers. One question that I have is - can the thread that held the flowers to the box and extend out of the flower, but inserted into the cake? Is it food safe or do I need to remove it? Thank you so much.
