SOLAKAKA E9 PRO Vertical MMO Gaming Mouse

Almost amazing

I've been in the market for a vertical MMO mouse to help with my wrist pain. I don't have a Windows PC in my home so I knew the software wouldn't work, but figured I would give it a whirl with Linux. Obviously I can't use the software to reprogram the LEDs, but I set up a simple keyd config to reprogram the buttons. In the pro column, the mouse is very light; I weighed it at 100 grams. It felt nice in my hand and my wrist was fine after using it for about a week. The cons column is a bit longer, but it's mostly preferential stuff. The one that ultimately lead to me going back to my old mouse was purely me not being observant before purchase: I require 12 thumb buttons for my play style and did not notice this only has 10. I found the buttons to be oddly long, which ended up making it difficult to reach all of them without readjusting my grip. The middle mouse button was pretty stiff. Normally that sort of thing wouldn't be an issue and I could adjust to it, but I found myself accidentally moving the mouse while trying to click it. Probably just a quirk of all vertical mice that I will need learn to live with, but I felt it was worth mentioning. And to add another quick pro to the design of this mouse, the resting position of my thumb is actually not over top of any buttons, so the "squeeze" motion required to click the middle mouse button did not cause me to press random thumb buttons. Finally -- and this is purely just a quirk of my setup, my mouse/keyboard tray pulls out from under my desk -- I kept accidentally clicking the left mouse button from the top of the mouse. I usually lift my mouse and physically reposition it for comfort, and if the mouse touched the underside of my desk, it would click the left mouse button. I would also occasionally click it when moving my hand from my keyboard back to the mouse. If the button were inset just a little bit with a thin piece of hard plastic protecting it at the top, it would mitigate the problem. Again, these issues are practically all preferential issues. If you're looking for a vertical MMO mouse, this one can get the job done, technically even on Linux (with keyd to reprogram keys) if you're not too hung up on the RGB stuff. I suspect if I didn't have 15 years of muscle memory for a 12-button setup for my thumb, I would still be using it.

Finally a vertical mouse with more than three buttons. I've been using it to play shooters many weapons and I did have to get a bit used to the grip coming from a more vertical mouse, but I am able to reach four thumb buttons without moving my hand at all which is perfect for weapon swapping. Others are reachable for rarer actions so it's working well. Plastic is a little lower feeling in terms of quality than some other mice I've had for gaming but this is a very niche space and I've had no issues with inputs over a dozen hours played with it so far and that material keeps it closer to the weight of a normal mouse (vertical mice tend to be heavier).

I like the device, I am not a gamer still though it feels great and was very easy to get up and running.
