I bought this to replace a very old and tattered peacoat manufactured by Fidelity. The 70/30 wool/nylon material used in the Schott will I believe be hardier than that of the pure wool used in the old Fidelity jacket. The 70/30 mix still feels ok to the touch. Another plus point is that unlike Fidelity, Schott has taken the trouble to use a decent amount of thread to sew the buttons on. As for sizing, it is slightly on the generous side and sensibly takes into account that we don’t all have manly chests and slim waists! Years ago I bought a leather 740N from Silvermans size 42, an excellent fit for me, so I ordered the wool version in the same size and again the fit is spot on. Incidentally I paid £500 for that leather peacoat - it’s now over a thousand. To my mind, Schott jackets are expensive, but when you buy a Schott product you very nearly, but not quite, get what you pay for. The only complaint I can think of in this transaction is not directed at Silvermans whose service I cannot fault, but at DHL the courier used for delivery. Despite paying for next day delivery the peacoat took two days to reach me due to the fact it lay in DHL’s East Midland’s depot for over 24 hours. Mind you, if I had chosen any of the other two delivery options (Royal Mail), I suspect I’d still be waiting.

Really warm and sturdy. Super quick delivery from Silvermans. Coat comes up a bit large, I ordered size 38", I'm 5' 11" tall and slim.
