This vibrant design depicts a nativity scene detail from the 1650 Altar Frontal. The three kings are shown in early 17th Century court dress and Mary and Joseph are in the more modest clothing of the time.
Enjoy the simplicity of stitching...

Beautiful wool, quick stitching
Make no mistake, the piece is going to require some time as it is larger than many of the intermediate crewel work offerings, but the wool is soft and luxurious and a joy to work with, and the stitches are not finicky and it is quick to see progress. I am about a third of the way through and enjoying the detail, and learning how to accurately and beautifully portray facial characteristics and background work has been fun and educational. Would definitely recommend to someone looking for a larger piece that is still accessible to those newer to the craft, as I am.
