Overseeding in dry conditions
Some areas I seeded with Hancock's Common Bermuda seed have germinated in less than 7 days; other areas took as much as 14 days. All depends on the amount of moisture I could maintain on the seed due to the unusually dry conditions we've experienced for 3 weeks. Temps were ideal but dry winds and sunny conditions along the SC coast have been very drying this spring. Oddly, the seed that has partial shade is doing the best after 3 weeks so far. Some seeded areas see very low germination rates (10%) while other areas are almost covered with new bermuda after 3 weeks. I plan to continue seeding the thin areas once per week until I've used all 25#'s of seed. Right now I'm satisfied with this Hancock Common Bermuda seed; BUT I expect to have a much better idea of how good this seed is by the end of August !

Bermuda seed
Planted late October for erosion control in a blend with Chewings Fescue. Won't know germination rate of bermuda seed until next spring.
