Everything I’d been looking for in a wax seal. Had only known the cheaper, wicked-wax before watching Rajiv Surendra’s YouTube channel. Well-worth the investment. This wax, upon use, will turn brittle and will give the recipient a satisfying feel when they break the brittle seal.

excellent sealing wax
This sealing wax is as old-fashioned (i.e., highest quality) as they come. It’s immensely satisfying to be able to purchase the same wax I used over sixty years ago - and from a merchant who provides prompt and correct service at a reasonable price!

Best Wax For Deep 3D Wax Stamps
Between Waterstons Mura wax and J.Herbin breakable wax, I prefer J.Herbin wax for its ease of control. This wax has a quicker set time when stamped, making for better impressions when used with deep 3D wax stamps. I use the heated spoon method with my wax sealing and find I get perfectly crisp, error free impressions more consistently with this wax as opposed to non-breakable and mura wax. The only downsides to J.Herbin breakable wax are its brittleness and its higher melting temperature (that temperature is noticeably higher than non-breakable wax and a bit higher than mura wax). It’s worth noting that the brittleness of this wax definitely requires it to be handled more carefully than mura wax. However, these particular characteristics are probably why the wax sets so nicely and consistently. A nice bonus to the J.Herbin wax is that it doesn’t have any tendency to stick to my stampers like mura wax does and has that shiny finish characteristic of breakable waxes. If you are using shallower depth 3D or the much more commonly found 2D engraved stamps you probably won’t notice much, if any difference in impression quality between J.Herbin breakable wax vs mura wax or even possibly non-breakable wax. However with deeper 3D engraved stamps, like the ones I use, there is a difference.
