Excellent semi-flex pen
I ordered the soft fine version of this pen. So far ithas performed quite well. It has not given me any hard starts, skipping, or railroading. Even with a fine tip it gives good line variation with some pressure.

oh so fine
This is my first gold nib purchase. I have heard many good things about the Pilot Falcon and the price for a gold nibber is really good (I think). I bought the Soft EF because I usually like German and Taiwanese EFs and was looking fwd to the seeing what widths the flex could take me to. I forgot, though, that my experience has shown that Japanese EFs are too fine for me and are usually scratchy. This it too scratchy for me to write fast and I feel nervous about horizontal strokes spreading/damaging the tines. If I write slowly, though, and don't press too hard on the horizontal, it feels better. The line variation is great on vertical strokes and I think I will use this for drawing when I know that I have time to intentionally draw slowly. This pen gets 5 stars from me because this issues I've noted above are not faults with the pen or nib (that's what I believe). I will read and watch some reviews of this pen with the Soft Fine nib, because I would really like to buy one of these that I can write with; that's how much I like this pen as a whole.

Great Pen. Not too wet, not too dry. Give handwriting a unique charecter. Was expecting more flex from the nib but thats a misunderstanding on my part.
