This is a Noodler's color that doesn't seem to get much love at all. It is a deep, dark red. The black aspects of its name take the color from a simple red into a complex burgundy. This is not the color to use for highlighting a textbook or for correcting student's papers. This is writing ink. I found it a bit dry but I only used it on standard notebook papers and everyday things at my desk. With better paper, I would think that the red aspects would shine forth more prominently. I think that this ink is just like Noodler's Nightshade, another ink that is gorgeous on the page, but also seems to get no attention. I got the sample to see if this would be a color I might want to add to my ridiculous collection of ink. I believe it is. The purpose of these ink samples is to try things out, see if something interests you, perhaps purchase a bottle later. Well, it seems to have worked. I'll be adding another bottle of Noodler's to the collection.

It is what it says, red and black
Somewhat on the dry side but not too dry. In a broad nib it lays down as kind of a brick brown color, but when it dries the saturated parts turn into black highlights in a red ink. Very cool

Nice ink, definite contender ...
What I like about this ink is that it dries differently on different paper. It was a nice red on my plain letter tablet and a burgundy on my Rhodia. It flowed smoothly and had a nice consistency. I used it with both an extra fine nib and a medium nib and liked the look with both. I'm searching for my signature color and this is a contender.
