Robert Charles Mann’s Solargraphs presents a captivating body of work that utilized hand-made pinhole cameras to expose the sun over many months. Mann’s process produces abstracted landscapes that question human perspectives regarding the passage of time. I applaud his choice of color film for this project. Clearly, accumulating all these images required a monumental effort on Mann’s part. It’s an expertly produced book, very beautiful, and published on matte paper. Sometime, I would like to see prints of this work on a glossy paper, and I wonder if a future volume of his work might benefit from that treatment. I also appreciate Hermeria for their very quick execution and delivery of my order.
